This Week in Gardening & Nature

Leek harvest on plywood table
chopped leeks in collander for washing

Plant of the Week: Leeks. Sow leek seeds indoors now or purchase bare roots at Seed St. Louis March 14th Sale. You can sauté and freeze leeks for use in quiche and leek soup or freeze raw for vegetable soup. They are very easy to grow. Our garden is abandoned for a monthat a time when we travel and leeks do just fine.

Plan your garden with  2026 Seed St. Louis Planting Calendar, good for Zones 6a, 6b, 7a, maybe more. Start Indoors this week: cauliflower, chard, collards, kale, kohlrabi, parsley

If you are just looking for St. Louis Area Plant and Seed Swaps and Sales, they are here. Added this week: Kirkwood Market dates for Missouri Wildflowers Nursery; Mississippi Valley Garden Club, Illinois, Plant Sale in Godfrey IL
