Highly recommend visiting Prairie State Park, Missouri’s tall grass prairie home to a bison herd. It’s 4 1/2 Hours drive from St. Louis, 2 Hours from KC. There’s campground w/ vault toilet. Also, primitive camping at nearby Shawnee Trail Conservation. For hotel, Joplin is 30 minutes away.
